The heat wave in Nigeria have been so bad that the last time I had a weave (Dec. 2014), I was forced to remove it same day because I was so hot and couldn’t stand the sweat. As a thrifty person I was so pained that I had wasted my money. Anyway, I made up my mind not to fix again until the rains come. So,I have been on braids / ghana weaving since the beginning of this year and I was tired of repeating the same hairstyles.
Finally last week, I felt the weather was cool enough for me to get a weave. I opted for a spiral curl weave because they do not need combing and as a working mother, I don’t have time in the morning to style/brush/comb/detangle my weave. My hair stylist advised that I buy oil sheen for my weave so as to keep it glossy. I asked how much and she said N850. My accountant brain did a quick maths and as an AKAGLUE, I felt it was a complete waste of money. I made up my mind to make my own oil sheen spray.
Things you need.
- Spray bottle. (I used an empty bottle of ‘mad about you fragrance mist’).
Step 1: Pour 1/4 of your olive oil into the spray bottle .
Step 2: Fill the spray bottle with water.
Step 3: Shake it.
And you have your DIY oil spray. Very easy right? How much did it cost me? Nothing!!!
